The Eight Branches of Yoga (A ṣṭā ṅ ga Yoga) is a systematic path of practice by Patangali in the Yoga Sutra.
The “Eight Branches” are not eight isolated steps, but a complete system that progresses from external behavior to internal consciousness, and is mutually supportive.
Its ultimate goal is to completely cease the mind, freeing pure consciousness (divine self) from the constraints of matter and mind, and achieving “Kaivalya” (solitude).
