Ashtanga Yoga Ends Back to Keta, Mandara

We will recite the opening chant at the beginning of the Ashtanga class.

From a mantra, let us realize the purpose of the exercise: self insight and self improvement.

Also at the end of the practice session, we will recite a passage, a closing mantra or mantra.

What does this poetic Sanskrit mantra mean? Maybe we can restore the charm to its background and see that it will be more understandable.

It turned out that Pattabhi Jois did not end the whole Ashtanga course in public until 2001 by means of incantations.

On September 12, 2001, the day after the attack when he was teaching the course in New York, he began to end the course in this way.

It can be imagined that it was a very tense and exciting moment, and many students were looking forward to his arrival and immersing themselves in the courses he taught.

But when the Twin Towers collapsed, it had a huge impact on everyone’s heart, including the yoga world.

“What should we do?” Many people question themselves in this way.

The next day, Patabi Joyce recited the mantra below.

The text and translation are as follows: OmSvashiPrajaBhyahaParipalaYantam NyaYenaMargenaMahimMahishaha GoBrahmanebhyashubamastouNityam LokahSamastahSukhinoBhavantu OmShantiShantiShantihi Translated: OM would like the rulers of the earth to adhere to the path of virtue in order to protect the well-being of all generations.

May the monks and all people be blessed forever, and may all living beings around the world be happy and free.

Mantra means to have interests or hopes.

This mantra is also called the mantra of peace.

It helps you end your practice in a peaceful way and reminds us not to leave what we have learned to ourselves, but to share it.

Give back to others.

Therefore, the last sentence, “May all beings be happy and free”, is often sung alone.

We use Omshanti, shanti, shanti to end the spell.

Shanti means peace.

We hope for peace for ourselves, our neighbors and all living beings in the wider region.

Yoga practitioners are people who want to make the world more beautiful than when they came to the world.

So, just make a wish in this way, which is a small thing you can do in your daily life.

With kindness, understanding, sincere attention or help, you can bring changes to others and add color to his or her day.

Therefore, we should remind ourselves that real yoga starts only when you leave the mat.
